Why Anthony Martineau Believes Slafkovsky Belongs on Montreal's First Line

TVA Sports journalist Anthony Martineau isn't afraid to say what he thinks, and his most recent post on X about Juraj Slafkovsky is a perfect example of that.
"You're going to find me annoying, but who's creating chaos with his feistiness and his fire on that BIG goal by Guhle?
Juraj Slafkovsky.
His place is on the first line."
- Anthony Martineau
These words immediately grabbed attention, especially after a strong performance by the young Slovak on Saturday night.
Juraj Slafkovsky impresses again with the Montreal Canadiens
It's not the first time Martineau has defended the young forward.
According to him, Slafkovsky is finally starting to assert his presence at 5-on-5, creating openings and forcing opposing defensemen to be on their heels.
And I have to admit, last night, that's exactly what he did.
By charging to the net, he caused chaos in the Blackhawks' zone, allowing Guhle to score the game-winning goal.
"Juraj Slafkovsky netfront presence on a late-period point shot.
This is exactly how he can continue to be effective and clutch for the Canadiens."
- Marco D'Amico
In his post, Martineau emphasizes that Slafkovsky has the perfect profile to stay on the first line alongside Suzuki and Caufield.
And for my part, I completely share this view. I really think his strength and energy change the tone of a game.
Here is a close up of his dominance in front of the net:
During last season, Martin St. Louis seems to have found the right formula for his first line, and Slafkovsky plays a big part in it.
You can feel that he's playing with more confidence, more speed, and a real desire to make a difference.
And when a journalist like Martineau dares to say out loud that he deserves the first line, I think that says a lot.
