Gary Bettman announced during the NHL All-Star weekend that the NHL will participate in the 2026 and 2030 Olympics. This is excellent news for hockey fans, and it could also be significant for Martin St-Louis.

As the coach of the Montreal Canadiens, St-Louis is gaining experience and garnering respect in the league. Moreover, the coach most likely to lead the Olympic team is Jon Cooper, who knows St-Louis very well.

According to Simon-Olivier Lorange, St-Louis would be an ideal candidate because he understands the game at a superstar level. His message would resonate well with the best players in the country.

"It often occurs to me that what St-Louis asks of his players might be too complicated for ordinary players. I think St-Louis sees the game at a very high level that few players have access to. And all the guys on that team [Team Canada] would have access to that level. So, in my opinion, he would speak the same language," said Simon-Olivier Lorange.

These remarks are very insightful and accurate. I believe that Martin is capable of adjusting to any type of player and can bring out the best in each one. However, seeing him with a team of stars is very enticing.

Doug Armstrong, who will be the team's general manager, will have some selection work to do. It will start with the head coach, and, by mutual agreement, his assistants will be selected.

We must also consider names like Jim Montgomery (Boston), Jared Bednar (Colorado), Bruce Cassidy (Vegas), and several other Canadian coaches who would also be excellent candidates.
