Lukas Vejdemo, a forward who was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens and played 13 games with the big club, has unfortunately suffered a terrible accident.

According to former Canadien Lukas Vejdemo, he has suffered a terrible on-ice incident and is now deaf in one ear.
In 2015, Marc Bergevin and the Canadiens' management selected Lukas Vejdemo in the 3rd round, 87th overall.
After a very difficult draft year in 2014, notably selecting Nikita Scherbak in the first round, Bergevin faced a second challenging draft class.
In the first round, he turned his pick to defenseman Noah Juulsen, who unfortunately suffered significant injuries. Fortunately for him, he has managed to secure a regular spot in the NHL since the 2023-24 season.
Then, the Canadiens' management drafted Lukas Vejdemo, Matt Bradley, Simon Bourque, and Jeremiah Addison. Among these four picks, only Vejdemo managed to play in the big league for 13 games, but he also provided valuable contributions to the Laval Rocket in the AHL from 2018 to 2022.
Originally from Stockholm, Sweden, he recorded 77 points in 174 games with the Rocket, including 35 goals. At the end of a disastrous campaign with the Canadiens in 2021-22, when the club notably parted ways with Marc Bergevin and Dominique Ducharme, he ultimately decided to return to his home country.

Hit by a puck during training, Lukas Vejdemo is now deaf in one ear

Lukas Vejdemo recently suffered a horrible injury during a training session when he was struck by a puck.
The forward quickly left the ice, and we have just learned very bad news regarding his condition, as he is now deaf in one ear.
"The puck hit badly on the ear and it rang quite well. It happens so fast that you don't have time to react. I felt directly that it was not good at all."

"I hear nothing at all on one ear. Sometimes it heals by itself, other times an operation is required. As I understand it, it's nothing you need to do directly, but you can wait with the operation." - Lukas Vejdemo
An incident that initially seemed fairly ordinary and occurs quite often in the world of hockey, but ultimately proved very unlucky for Vejdemo.
We wish him strength and courage through these difficult times.
