A journalist was asked a huge trick question by a top-10 prospect
The NHL Combine is currently taking place in Buffalo, in anticipation of the highly awaited 2023 Draft, which will take place on the 28th and 29th of June.
Renowned journalist Anthony Martineau is on the spot and has the opportunity to mingle with several young players from the draft class.
He recently mentioned something particularly amusing on his Twitter account, noting that he experienced a first with a prospect perceived to be in the top-10 of the first round, a certain
Dalibor Dvorsky.
This latter, another Slovakian talent, is a good friend of
Juraj Slafkovsky and
Filip Mesar, two players who were selected by the Montreal organization last year.
Evidently wanting to be the Canadiens' 5th overall pick, Dvorsky asked Martineau a tricky question at the end of his interview with him. The young man asked him if he thought the Canadiens fans would like him to be the lucky one on June 28th.
"It's the first time a prospect has done this to me.
At the end of the interview, Dvorsky shakes my hand and thanks me, then asks me: and you, do you think Habs fans would like me to be the chosen player in June?'
I thought I was the one asking questions." - Anthony Martineau
Why do I mention that it's a tricky question? Because if the Canadiens were to select him 5th overall, it would mean that the organization would be snubbing not only
Matvei Michkov or
Will Smith, but also guys like
Ryan Leonard and
Zach Benson, who are players with a much higher potential than Dvorsky.
Unfortunately for the young man, if he were to be drafted in Montreal, it's clear that his selection would not be unanimously accepted, quite the contrary. The fans might be furious with the organization.
