The past few weeks have been quite different for Juraj Slafkovsky. Initially, there were suggestions that he might be better off in Laval and needed to regain his confidence. However, today, he is a significant contributor on the first line.
Game after game, Slaf is consistent. He wins battles, creates plays and space, executes solid defensive plays—in short, he dominates on the ice. He is undeniably evolving into the power forward that the organization envisioned.
Virtually present on the RDS show L'Antichambre on Saturday night, Juraj was asked a somewhat humorous question, but his response is priceless.
- PJ Stock: "Important question here. What were you more excited about, your first NHL goal or your first NHL fight?"
- Slaf: "I know you would like to hear me say NHL fight. Obviously, my first goal, but the fight was fun. I don't remember much from being out there, just from video after but it was fun. I'm sure there are many more to come."
Slafkovsky has just made it clear that he won't hesitate to drop the gloves if the opportunity arises. It's an added dimension to his game, enhancing the quality of the player he is and is becoming.
This is a clear message to his opponents, who already struggle to win one-on-one battles against him. Slaf is like a train, fast and sturdy. In a few years, he'll be a true force to be reckoned with.
