When Patrick Roy was at the Bell Centre on Thursday night, he had an instant impact. It's always special when the legendary number 33 returns home, and it's very lucrative for the organization.
Simply put, everything is in abundance. Journalists had plenty of work, TV broadcasters had excellent viewership ratings, and the organization sold a large number of items.
While we love what Martin St-Louis brings to the Canadiens—he is an exceptional communicator and a good teacher, although he still has things to learn as a coach—Elliotte Friedman raised the question of whether Patrick Roy could be in line for the position.
Certainly, the excitement would be special. Roy is often described as an emotional man, but he embodies the feelings of Canadiens fans who see themselves in him.
For now, and for quite some time, Martin St-Louis is the trusted man, and it is too early to speculate on the possible hiring of Roy.
