The Canadiens continue to adjust their roster before the season, with today's news sending several young prospects back to Laval and others to Trois-Rivières.

Jeff Gorton and his partner Kent Hughes confirmed that Owen Beck and Florian Xhekaj as well as defenseman Adam Engstrom have been loaned to the Laval Rocket, while the American Hockey League organization, on its side, announced that it had cut eight additional players from its own training camp.

Important Decisions for Laval and Montreal Before the Season

Here are the 8 players the Rocket cut:
Forwards
Will Dineen (Trois-Rivières)
Mark Estapa (Trois-Rivières)
Egor Goriunov (Trois-Rivières)
Israel Mianscum (Trois-Rivières)

Defensemen
Charles Martin (Trois-Rivières)
Wyatt McLeod (Trois-Rivières)

Goaltenders
Benjamin Gaudreau (Trois-Rivières)
Hunter Jones (Trois-Rivières)
On the Rocket's side, these cuts are not really a surprise, but they confirm that management wants to rely on a more stable core for the start of the season.
Meanwhile, in Montreal, Martin St. Louis and Kent Hughes are finalizing the last details of their roster.
The recent cuts of promising players like Owen Beck and Florian Xhekaj show just how fierce the battle was to crack the lineup.
I know fans were really hoping to see Florian Xhekaj in the NHL alongside his brother, Arber.
The good news for fans is that many of these young players remain just one phone call away from the NHL.
One thing is certain: this year, the Rocket will have a young, talented lineup worth watching.
