Cole Caufield's number change: Gary Bettman decides and it's confirmed
In recent days, Cole Caufield confirmed that he is changing his number to 13 in honor of Johnny Gaudreau.
Personally, I find this gesture incredible, and even though thousands of people have his jersey with the number 22, it remains a very good reason for the change.
The NHL and Gary Bettman, however, have a say in such situations, as the deadline for changing numbers had passed for Cole Caufield.
The commissioner has made a decision, and an exemption was granted to Cole Caufield given the reasons for the change.
"Cole Caufield's number change - I'm told there are no fees associated with such a change for the player (unlike the NFL). That said, the deadline for making the change in Caufield's case had passed, and the NHL made an exception."

It's a very nice gesture from both the player and the league, which decided to make an exception for a very good reason. Small players always struggle to make their mark in the NHL, and Johnny Hockey inspired many small players like Cole Caufield to believe in their dreams.
