Gilbert Delorme issues a warning to a young Montreal Canadiens player who, in his view, really needs to seize his opportunity starting today.
Montreal forward
Joshua Roy had shown solid progress last year, and many believed he could earn a roster spot as early as this season.
On BPM Sports, Gilbert Delorme did not mince his words on the subject.
Gilbert Delorme Believes Joshua Roy Has Not Seized His Chance with the Montreal Canadiens
Delorme was clear in his assessment. According to him, Roy has not done enough to force management's hand.
"No malice, nothing against the kid, but there's no place on the team for a player like that." - Gilbert Delorme
He also reminded listeners that the forward had already been given a chance in the past.
"Last year, he had a chance, this year again, but it's still not enough." - Gilbert Delorme
Following this, the analysis raises an important question: if Joshua Roy had delivered better performances, would general manager Kent Hughes have felt the need to acquire Zach Bolduc via trade? Hard to say, but the answer is potentially no.
In my opinion, I think Delorme is right on one particular point: Roy needs to learn to stand out more in key moments if he wants a chance to play full-time in the NHL.
Without that, he risks being stuck in Laval..
