Ivan Demidov Sparks Reactions by Speaking French for the First Time in a Commercial
A viral video shows Ivan Demidov in a commercial with Tony Marinaro, and the big surprise comes from one major detail: the young Russian says a sentence in French.
Since arriving in Montreal, Ivan Demidov has drawn plenty of attention, but this time, for one of the first times, it wasn't on the ice that he made headlines.
In fact, in a commercial for the Montreal-based mattress brand Essentia, filmed with none other than Tony Marinaro, the 19-year-old Russian surprised everyone by speaking in French.
During the shoot, Marinaro presents him with different models, and when showing him the 5th choice-as a nod to his draft position two years ago-Demidov reacts with enthusiasm.
That's when he delivered the line that lit up the crowd:
"C'est chez nous." - Ivan Demidov

A French Phrase That Means a Lot to Canadiens Fans
I know it's just a few words, but in Quebec, especially these days, it means a lot.
When I heard Ivan Demidov say in French "C'est chez nous", I thought it was incredible-especially coming from Demidov.
For such a young player, who mainly speaks Russian and a bit of English, it's a clear sign that he wants to integrate into the community here in Quebec.
Honestly, I think it's awesome, and it makes me even more confident in him.
In my opinion, this is just the beginning.
