'3 Goals on 5 Shots': Montembeault Faces Tough Night as St-Louis' Decision Draws Debate

The start of the game has turned into a nightmare for the Montreal Canadiens, as the Philadelphia Flyers scored three times on their first five shots.
That's what you call a cold shower for the Habs.
It's safe to say this is not the scenario Martin St-Louis was hoping for.
The Canadiens were caught off guard right from the beginning, as the Flyers took advantage of a 5-on-3 power play to strike quickly and hard.
Patrick Friolet from RDS summed up the situation:
"Disastrous start to the game for the Habs.
Three goals on the first five shots on goal for the Flyers. The last two goals scored on the power play."
- Patrick Friolet
"And make it 3-0 Flyers over Habs with a second power-play goal. Three goals on five shots on goalie Samuel Montembeault. Still 12:10 left in first period."
- Stu Cowan
Martin St-Louis' Decision to Start Samuel Montembeault Instead of Jakub Dobes Will Be Questioned
Marco D'Amico also added on X:
"Bell Centre crowd cheering for every Montembeault save..."
That was obviously said in a sarcastic tone...
I have to add that it's not entirely Montembeault's fault, of course.
Being down two men is always hard to handle.
Still, your goaltender is supposed to be your best "penalty killer", and in the first period, he wasn't.
The three goals allowed weren't necessarily "bad goals," but in a game like this, you need your goalie to steal at least one.
The Canadiens can still bounce back, but it needs to happen quickly.
I have a feeling we haven't heard the last of Montreal's goaltending situation...
