On Thursday night, Martin St-Louis and his young team faced the Maple Leafs in Toronto, where an unnecessary and disgraceful incident occurred.
Max Domi delivered a two-handed slash to Lane Hutson's face while the puck was nowhere near him, and it had been for some time. The consequences for such actions are typically minimal, but this was an unnecessary act that could have resulted in a serious injury.
The NHL aims to eliminate exactly this type of behavior: stupid and pointless actions intended to cause harm. In this instance, the intent was not to separate Lane Hutson from the puck.
For the sake of its image, the NHL's Department of Player Safety must at least investigate this incident and impose a punishment on Max Domi, whether that be a fine or a suspension.
Honestly, I don't know what got into Max Domi with that move, but he is capable of much better. It was an unnecessary and completely gratuitous action. He should be ashamed.
Max Domi is a skilled player, and he had his best season with the Canadiens in 2018-19, scoring 72 points. He has so much more to offer than questionable hits like this.
Let's now see what Georges Parros is up to.
