Kent Hughes has built an impressive trade record with the Canadiens, but a deal with the Blackhawks could put a blemish on it as soon as this season.

Whether we think of the acquisition of Mike Matheson, Sean Monahan, or more recently, the trade that brought Noah Dobson to Montreal, good old Kent continues to impress us.
That said.. there's a caveat to all of this.
An acquisition by Kent Hughes dating back to the 2022 draft could very well tarnish his perfect record.

Kent Hughes could bitterly regret his trade with the Blackhawks as soon as this season

On the Blackhawks' side, all eyes will be on young Frank Nazar this season, who just signed a massive contract despite modest stats in his first NHL season.
Nazar had been acquired back then thanks to the first-round pick the Canadiens received from the Islanders in exchange for Alexander Romanov. Kent Hughes immediately used the Islanders' first-round pick to acquire Kirby Dach.
Yes, the same Kirby Dach whose fragility was already being questioned at the time.
Three years later, it must be admitted that if Frank Nazar - who will have every opportunity to prove himself in Chicago - has a big season and Kirby Dach takes time to recover from a 117th injury (we're barely exaggerating), the Canadiens' GM will bitterly regret this decision.
Moreover, as you can see in the video below, Marco D'Amico shares the same opinion as us.
