Tragedy in the Hockey World: Young Forward Passes Away at Just 25
The hockey world is in mourning following the announcement of the passing of forward Orca Wiesblatt, who sadly died early Monday at just 25 years old.
This heartbreaking news shocked fans and professional organizations, as the player was preparing to continue his career in North America.
The official announcement came this morning, confirming a tremendous loss for his family and for the entire hockey community.
As a passionate hockey fan, I find it especially hard to imagine a career cut so short, particularly that of a player who still had so much to give-both on and off the ice.
Coming from a family deeply involved in the sport, Orca had followed in the footsteps of his brothers Oasiz, Ocean, and Ozzy, all of whom have been closely connected to the NHL.
A Touching Tribute to Honor Orca Wiesblatt's Memory
The Athens Rock Lobsters organization, where he once played, released a heartfelt message to honor the forward.
"It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Orca Wiesblatt, former Rock Lobster. We will always remember Orca for his energy, determination, and contagious smile. Our thoughts are with the Wiesblatt family and all who loved him."
The Wiesblatt family is well known in the hockey world: Oasiz is part of the Columbus Blue Jackets organization, Ocean continues his career as a professional defenseman, and Ozzy, a first-round pick by the San Jose Sharks in 2020, played a few games with the Nashville Predators in 2025.
As for Orca, he shone in the WHL before moving on to professional hockey. In his last FPHL season, he recorded 42 points in 37 games, including 17 goals, and was set to earn a promotion with the Allen Americans for 2025-26.
Even the Lions de Trois-Rivières, affiliated with the Montreal Canadiens, offered their condolences on behalf of the Habs organization-an act that shows just how deeply this loss is felt across the hockey world.
Personally, I feel this tragedy is a reminder that behind every player, no matter the level, there's a human story and a family who deserve our utmost respect and support.
