Canadiens Forward Jake Evans and Wife Emily Reveal Major Life-Changing News

At 29, Evans has just received wonderful news alongside his partner, Emily Flat.

You may not know it, but Jake Evans represents one of the Canadiens' best late-round draft picks in the organization's history.

While Marc Bergevin, Trevor Timmins, and the management were facing a disastrous draft in 2014, it was ultimately the Toronto native who managed to save the pick in the 7th round, 207th overall.

At 26th overall, the Canadiens' GM had turned his pick to Nikita Scherbak, passing over players like Ivan Barbashev, Brandon Montour, and Brayden Point. While the Bruins hit big by selecting David Pastrnak one spot ahead of Scherbak, the latter played a total of just 37 NHL games and left North America after the 2019-20 season.

In the 3rd round, Bergevin selected Brett Lernout at 73rd overall, just ahead of Elvis Merzlikins, Ilya Sorokin, and Jake Walman. Eleven years later, Lernout has played 21 games in the NHL.

Nikolas Koberstein, 125th overall, Daniel Audette, 147th overall, and Hayden Hawkey, 177th overall, ultimately never played a game in the NHL. Just after Koberstein, Gustav Forsling was drafted 126th overall and is now considered one of the top defensemen in the National Hockey League.

Fortunately for the former Canadiens GM, Jake Evans is a true steal at the end of the draft.

In the past 20 years, only Rafaël Harvey-Pinard, Jake Evans, Cayden Primeau, and Sergei Kostitsyn have made it to the NHL from the Canadiens' 7th-round picks.
