Golden opportunity for the Canadiens: Kent Hughes must take it

Sometimes, one person's misfortune can be another's opportunity. The Canadiens and Kent Hughes might have quite a stroke of luck, benefiting from injuries elsewhere.

Indeed, young prospect Cayden Lindstrom is injured and will not be participating in the upcoming Under-18 World Championship in Finland in a few weeks.

«Cayden Lindstrom and Berkly Catton will not be going to the U18 tournament. It's highly possible that they will drop down the lists because of this.

Will the Canadiens take the opportunity to draft Lindstrom in the 5-6-7th range (if available) or will they be put off by his injury history? Stay tuned!»

Lindstrom is a true power forward and is perceived as a potential top-five pick, but his injury could cause him to fall a few spots. The Canadiens are likely to pick in the 6th or 7th spot.

We know that the World Championship is the last chance for young players to impress NHL teams ahead of the draft. Often, their fate is sealed following this tournament.

There can be significant changes in the rankings after this tournament, precisely because many players stand out while others get injured or underperform.

The Canadiens might end up with this opportunity after all. We know that Kent Hughes and his team have met with Jarome Iginla's son, Tij, several times and seem very interested in him.

However, if Cayden Lindstrom, who is 6'4" and 218 lbs with 46 points and 27 goals in 32 games, is available, the choice will become much easier.
