Josh Anderson is a very important veteran for the Montreal Canadiens, and he is under contract until the end of the 2026-27 season. You may not know this, but a legendary Canadiens forward is Josh Anderson's great-uncle, and Anderson has a lot of admiration for him.

This past May, Josh Anderson celebrated his 31st birthday, and he's preparing to begin his 6th season wearing the Montreal organization's uniform.
On October 6, 2020, Marc Bergevin acquired the forward from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Max Domi and a 2020 third-round pick. A trade that turned out to be a win for the former Habs GM.
Today, the right winger from Burlington plays a key role for the team. He is a very important veteran on a young squad, especially following the departures of David Savard, Christian Dvorak, and Joel Armia.

A very special connection between Josh Anderson and his great-uncle, the legendary Peter Mahovlich

Peter Mahovlich won the Stanley Cup four times with the Montreal Canadiens, from 1969 to 1977.
The 6'5", 205 lb left winger was a towering presence and a natural goal scorer, notching five 30-goal seasons in the province of Quebec.
A complete power forward who was always involved offensively, but who could also play a physical game and drop the gloves. According to NHL records, he was involved in an impressive total of 40 fights during his career.
A first-round pick, 2nd overall, by the Detroit Red Wings in the 1963 Draft, he finished his career with 288 goals and 773 points in 884 games. Additionally, he recorded 30 goals and 72 points in 88 playoff games.
An exceptional career for Mahovlich, who is Josh Anderson's great-uncle. More specifically, he is the brother-in-law of the Canadiens forward's mother, Michelle Anderson.
Number 17 has always had a great deal of admiration for Peter and has drawn great inspiration from him. On social media, Josh even posted a photo collage of himself and his great-uncle to wish him a happy birthday.
Happy birthday to my uncle, Habs legend Peter Mahovlich!
