The saga surrounding the interview with Grant McCagg and Lane Hutson's father, during which he criticized the U.S. national hockey team, continues to make waves.

This time, it's Lane Hutson's agent who is drawing attention.
Sean Coffey represents the interests of his client, Lane Hutson. It is therefore natural to see him trying to put out fires that could become a distraction for Lane.
It is in this context that the agent attempted to downplay the impact of the comments made by Lane's father, which suggested that his son might play for Canada rather than the United States after his controversial non-invitation.
The problem is that Sean Coffey criticized the media that reported Rob Hutson's remarks rather than addressing the remarks themselves.

Maxime Truman Reacts Strongly to Lane Hutson's Agent's Comments

On his Twitter account, the director of the site DansLesCoulisses, Max Truman, didn't mince words in expressing his disappointment with Sean Coffey's comments.
"Lane Hutson's agent blames the media - not Lane Hutson's father - for the virality of the father's comments. Yet, the father's remarks were very clear:

'You never know what might happen in the future. My boys are also Canadians. It's a luxury, and many great players have been left out of the Olympics. If I'm not mistaken, Brett Hull switched from Canada to the United States. There are several scenarios that are not, I would say, considered, but are possibilities, right?'

I'm tired of hearing excuses about hacked phones, bad translations or quotes, and media chasing clicks. If Lane Hutson's father says something, he should own it. And his agent should be more mature/professional.»

One can only agree with Truman's intervention. Those of us who listened to Rob Hutson's interview with Grant McCagg are not fooled: Lane's father expressed genuine frustration with the U.S. team's decision. And that is not the fault of the Montreal media.
Let's hope Lane's agent is more reasonable when it comes time to negotiate contracts.
