By trading Sean Monahan, Kent Hughes has shown his colors. The Canadiens are sellers on the eve of the trade deadline, it's now official.
When looking at other players who might interest other teams, the name that comes up the most is David Savard. The defenseman is very reliable, a warrior, and knows how to win.
It was a topic of conversation on BPM Sports between Gonzo and Georges Laraque. According to the former tough guy, Kent Hughes must trade Savard, but his expectations are not very high.
Indeed, Georges believes that the Canadiens could get a 2nd-round pick for Savard and a 1st-round pick for Michael Matheson. However, Gonzo thinks that Savard would fetch more than a 2nd-round pick, and he would keep him rather than accept such a low offer.
It is in this perspective that I believe David Savard will stay in Montreal, unless a team is willing to overpay, which in my opinion, is more than a first-round pick.
